Windows 8.1 released today. What does that mean for you?
Well, if you're a proud (frustrated) owner of a Windows 8 powered computer, good news; THE UPDATE IS FREE! What's better than free?
Windows 8.1 brings a slew of new features and improvements that make it easier to use. Also, the biggest feature of all, THE START BUTTON IS BACK!
Let's get into the meat and potatoes of what Windows 8.1 is bringing to the table:
The Start Button Is Back - Pinned to the bottom left corner of the taskbar, where it rightfully belongs, is your start button. However, it's not exactly like you expect. It will take you to an "APPS" page (which you can customize). Check back with us in a week for some tips on how to customize and tweak this button.
Smart Search Is Smarter - That search bar that you needed to use to find things on the computer because you had NO idea where they were located just became awesome. If you're connected to the internet, it will not only search your computer, inside of your apps, but also the internet. It is actually really, really useful.
It's Snaptastic - You can now snap up to 4 separate apps to your screen all at the same time. You would think that it would look or feel weird, but it doesn't. Multi-tasking for the win.
More Personalized & Better Backgrounds - In addition to all of that other stuff, you're able to adjust that Start Metro screen a bit more. You're getting more colors, better backgrounds, and the ability to adjust the tiles (more sizes, larger live tiles, etc). This might come in handy!
Check back tomorrow, we'll show you HOW to get the free update, STEP-BY-STEP!
